The first execution by electric chair, it was the Edison chair that was used to end the life of a street pedlar
The person being executed in the electric chair receives between 500 to 2000 volts for one-half of a minute. I can't tell you exactly how many volts I received, and I'll let you know why.
My brother and I were adding some power to another part of a building. When doing so, it required us to add wiring to some existing conduits. We use an existing wire to pull more wire in the line, including the Pull wire replacement.
When this happening to me I was standing on a stack of pallets in the back of the warehouse, pushing the wire through as another person was on the other side pulling it.
I was sweaty and holding onto the conduit with one hand while pushing the wire up the tube with the other hand, and I was leaning over on it.
I can only guess that somehow a wire got pushed against the line that had a short in it because the power grabbed hold of me by instantly contracting my muscles, and I couldn’t get off of it.
My mouth flew. Open, and I tried to scream, but my mouth wouldn't work. I remember it shaking me violently.
The next thing I remember is waking up on my back, and people were standing around me. Chill bumps immediately came up all of my arms and all across my body.
I drew my body into a fetal position, and my muscles are contracting. It took me about an hour to shake it off.
So with all that being said, I believe it was only 110 Volts that shocked me. However, in a case like this, 110 volts are more dangerous than 220 volts. The maximum power that's in an average-size home.
The reason for this is because if you are not leaning on the energy like I was, the 220 volts in most cases will knock you off of the source of power while the 110 volts will contract your muscles and hold you on the power until you die.
I'll assure you that it is excruciating. I'm 55 years old, and the last time I was shocked, it felt like getting my teeth got knocked out.
