China, known for its extensive use of various execution methods, including firing squads and lethal injections, has a shocking addition to this list - execution vans. These mobile death vans contribute to the country's status as the world leader in state-sanctioned executions.

China's criminal law is notorious for its severity, with the death penalty applicable to offences ranging from drug trafficking to corruption. The 1997 Penal Code lists 46 crimes punishable by death, creating what Amnesty International refers to as a 'conveyor belt of executions.'

In a recent high-profile case, a couple, Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen, were executed for throwing their two children off a 15th-floor building. The gruesome act, fuelled by an affair and a desire to eliminate "obstacles," sparked national outrage. Similarly, a son, Wu Xieyu, faced execution for bludgeoning his mother to death with a dumbbell.

While these cases gained public attention, China's secretive approach to death penalty data remains unchanged. The Taiwan Alliance to End the Death Penalty notes a reduction in the number of crimes punishable by death but highlights a stable rate of executions, often unpublicised.

Among the grim revelations is the use of "execution vans" - converted 24-seat buses with concealed execution chambers. These vans allow state-sanctioned killings without the need for transportation to an execution ground. The method draws chilling comparisons to historical models used during the Holocaust.

China defends these vans as cost-effective and efficient, eliminating the need for traditional execution facilities. Reports suggest a syringe-administered lethal injection inside the van, with a bed sliding out for the condemned criminal.

THE WORST AND TERRIBLE EXECUTION AT LANDSBERG IN MAY 1946.

Over two days at the end of May 1946, 28 German war criminals were hanged at Landsberg am Lech prison in Germany (US War Criminals Prison No. 1). The Dachau concentration camp was liberated by two divisions of the U.S. Seventh Army on the 29th of April, 1945.  40 members of it staff were tried at the camp by a US General Military Court, presided over by Brigadier General John Lenz. The trials lasted from the 15th of November to the 13th of December 1945.   36 defendants received the death sentence. Eight of these sentences were reduced to terms of imprisonment by the Reviewing Authority, the remaining 28 death sentences being confirmed. The trial went under the designation “USA against Martin Gerhard Weiß (Weiss) et al.”, Case No. 000-50-2. Human Rights Council denounced Tuesday the rising numbers of executions in Iran, including of people who received the capital punishment in connection with protests that have rocked the country. The top United Nations rights body approved a resolution voicing "deep concern at the reported surge in the number of executions, including of individuals sentenced to death in relation to their alleged involvement in the recent protests." The resolution, which also extended the mandate of the U.N. special rapporteur on the rights situation in Iran for another year, passed with 23 of the council's 47 members voting in favor. Another 16 abstained, and eight opposed the text, including China, Cuba, Pakistan and Vietnam. Iran's ambassador Ali Bahreini took the floor to slam the resolution as a "weaponization of human rights as a foreign policy tool." The Laborer newspaper quoted the minister of public security, Tran Dai Quang, asking the national assembly to allow the use of firing squads until the end of 2015, along with execution by lethal injection.
