An eight-year-old boy has been cut out of the stomach of a crocodile after he was swallowed whole in Indonesia.  

Dimas Mulkan Saputra was fishing in a river with his father when he strayed from the shore in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, on Wednesday morning.


A 26ft long crocodile then dragged Dimas away as the boy's father Subliansyah chased the reptile.

Subliansyah punched the animal to try and make it release his son but the crocodile sank into the depths and disappeared.

The animal swallowed Dimas whole without even chewing.

The crocodile was found nearby on Thursday and Dimas's body was cut out fully intact but lifeless in the village of Muara Bengalon in Bengalon District.


A local search and rescue agency official known as Oktavianto said the child's father jumped to help him but the reptile escaped.


Oktavianto added: 'He chased the crocodile and hit it with bare hands but he couldn't keep up''


All of Dimas' limbs were intact when he was removed from the crocodile. 


Devastated villages shouted the name 'Dimas' as the crocodile was brought ashore.


Emotional residents broke down in tears as the primary school child was cut from the animal's body.


Bongga Losong, Head of Rescue Team for the East Kutai SAR Post, said: 'After we found the crocodile we split its stomach and then we take the child to the funeral home. We buried the crocodile.

'At that time the victim swam and was immediately pounced on by a crocodile. 

'The crocodile was later found not far from the location of the incident.'

Over two days at the end of May 1946, 28 German war criminals were hanged at Landsberg am Lech prison in Germany (US War Criminals Prison No. 1). The Dachau concentration camp was liberated by two divisions of the U.S. Seventh Army on the 29th of April, 1945.  40 members of it staff were tried at the camp by a US General Military Court, presided over by Brigadier General John Lenz. The trials lasted from the 15th of November to the 13th of December 1945.   36 defendants received the death sentence. Eight of these sentences were reduced to terms of imprisonment by the Reviewing Authority, the remaining 28 death sentences being confirmed.
